Valentine’s Day Drinking with Peter Lehmann Wines

Valentine’s Day is around the corner and any occasion that celebrates love, loyalty, and fine wine deserves our attention. Whether you are celebrating with your spouse, partner, friends, or having a romantic night by yourself, we have the perfect drop for your Valentine’s Day drinking.

  1.       Peter Lehmann Portrait 2021 Grenache Rosé

Rosé is a Valentine’s Day classic due to its soft textural palate, and delicate pink shade. The Portrait 2021 Grenache Rosé boasts a beautiful light salmon colour and an exceptional bright palate of fresh red berries, a restrained peach tea and strawberry nose, with a crisp grapefruit finish. The 2021 vintage was particularly favourable for the Grenache varietal, producing some of our most awarded wines yet [hyperlink to Grenache article]. We recommend enjoying your Portrait Rosé this Valentine’s Day by the ocean with some live music and freshly caught seafood.

  1.   Peter Lehmann 2017 Black Queen Sparkling Shiraz

A great sparkling wine is always cause for celebration and what could be better than the uniquely South Australian invention of Sparkling Shiraz? Our Peter Lehmann Black Queen Sparkling Shiraz is the jewel in our crown. This drop is as dark, rich, and intense as the Queen of Sheba she was named after. It has notes of mulberry, black cherry, and dark exotic fruits that make each sip an exploration. Accompany your Black Queen Sparkling Shiraz with a rich, chocolate-filled dessert and some special company.

  1.   Peter Lehmann 2020 Portrait Shiraz

If you’d prefer a sturdier drop for your Valentine’s Day drinking, look no further than the 2020 Portrait Shiraz, a robust and generous wine to remind you of the basic tenets of love. The Portrait Shiraz is a classic Barossan Shiraz, with distinct plum and dark chocolate flavours that have benefited from ageing in oak barrels. Enjoy this wine on a country getaway, paired with an extravagant cheese board, and a long soak in a warm bath.

  1.   Peter Lehmann 2015 The Master’s Collection Margaret Semillon

Peter Lehmann may be the name on the top of the winery, but the success, humility, and generosity associated with Peter Lehmann wines is due to the professional and personal partnership between the late Peter and his wife Margaret. The Master’s Collection Margaret Semillon is dedicated to this incredible woman and the love she had for her Barossa community. The Margaret Semillon eschews the traditional Semillon making approach, opting for an early-picked style and considerable ageing rather than traditional maturation in oak. The Margaret Semillon is released after five years of cellaring, increasing the complexity of the wine, while still preserving the youthful lemongrass aroma and citric acidity. As the name suggests, this is a masterful Semillon, with a sumptuous palate of lemon curd and lemon zest, perfect for a romantic picnic, or a decadent plate of oysters.

  1.   Peter Lehmann 2018 The Master’s Collection 8 Songs Shiraz

Peter Lehmann was not only a born and bred winemaker but also a lover of the arts. He often took inspiration in music when creating new wines. The 8 Songs Shiraz is a full-bodied, deep-crimson Shiraz with notes of satsuma plum, blueberry, and dusty cedar designed to leave a long savoury mouthfeel. It is named after Peter and Margaret’s favourite musical work ‘Eight Songs for a Mad King’ by Peter Maxwell Davies. Take a note out of Peter and Margaret’s songbook this Valentines Day and enjoy a rich, Barossan Shiraz before a night out at the ballet, theatre, or Opera.
