THE HEART OF THE GROUNDS
Our Barossa Valley Cellar Door is situated along Para Road on the banks of the Para River. Built in the 1880’s the Hoffmann Cellar is one of the original Barossan wineries. Carved into the hill to allow the natural course of gravity to influence the winemaking process, the small winery still stands with its beautiful grand archway entrance.
In the heart of the Cellar Door the stunning red gum bar stands proudly and has been the centrepiece for tasting some of Australia’s most awarded Barossa Valley wines for many years. It continues to welcome visitors from all over the world to enjoy a tasting and create memorable moments.
While the old stone building and verandah are a lovely setting to enjoy a glass of wine or two, it’s the surrounding lawns and gardens that make the Peter Lehmann winery really special. On a sunny day the picnic tables scattered under the swaying red gum trees are the perfect place to relax, share a bottle of wine and a weighbridge platter with friends and loved ones.
THE WEIGHBRIDGE
Built in 1979, the Weighbridge is where every Peter Lehmann wine begins its journey. Peter Lehmann spent most of his time during vintage here, keeping an eye on the incoming fruit, weighing the grapes and catching up with his grower friends. If the old marble walls of the Weighbridge could talk, they would have a few stories to tell!
“The Weighbridge represents the camaraderie and friendships that exist between Peter Lehmann Wines and the growers. The winery was Peter’s domain, his kingdom and was and still is the common bond of the Barossa. So much has changed over the years but what’s stayed the same is the solidarity and togetherness we all strive for, because we know it makes us stronger.” Mick Anderson, PLW grower and friend.
