With his word as his bond, many growers in the Barossa sold fruit to Peter Lehmann on a handshake agreement; many of which are still honoured today. These longstanding relationships give us unrivalled access to some of the finest quality grapes across the length and breadth of the region to craft our wines. Following a period of uncertainty, Peter Lehmann Wines was born to preserve a winemaking community, and save it from detriment during the great fruit surplus of the late 1970s. The Bond is created to honour Peter and his promise.
WINEMAKERS NOTES
A classic Barossa Shiraz, the 2024 The Bond is generous, vibrant and beautifully structured. The nose is lifted with satsuma plum, raspberry, blueberry and violet, complemented by mocha spice and lightly toasted creamy oak.
Bright blue fruits and layers of satsuma plum and dark cherry fill the palate, supported by fine, silky tannins that provide structure without overpowering the fruit. Earthy blackberry and black olive add savoury depth, while a fresh, youthful red berry finish brings length and balance.
Will pair perfectly with a Wagyu rib-eye on the bone with a stilton cheese sauce and sautéed Padron peppers with garlic and sherry vinegar.
