2023 Portrait Shiraz

$20.00

The Portrait wines embody the original promise Peter Lehmann made to the growers to make wines that show the true character of the Barossa. Collectively, these wines present a portrait of the region through a selection of the traditional varietals that made it famous.

WINEMAKERS NOTES

The 2023 Portrait Shiraz brings together fruit from the Barossa Valley and McLaren Vale, with the cooler, steady ripening conditions of the vintage helping to shape a wine of vibrant colour, bright fruit and supple, integrated tannins.

The nose is lifted and expressive, revealing satsuma plum, raspberry, blueberry and violet, with hints of chocolate and creamy oak adding depth. The palate is generous yet fresh, with layers of ripe plum and red cherry supported by a fine tannin structure that provides length and balance. Subtle toasty oak sits neatly beneath the fruit, with a bright, fruit-driven finish that makes this a particularly food-friendly style of Barossa Shiraz.

Matured in French and American oak hogsheads for 15 months, the wine is approachable now, while offering the structure and balance to develop beautifully with careful cellaring through to 2033.

Best enjoyed with a Prosciutto cheeseboard or during summer - chill it down for an hour and sip with fresh raspberries.
