Named in honour of our founder, Peter Lehmann, who mentored countless people throughout his 50-year career, Mentor Cabernet Sauvignon is crafted as the finest expression of the vintage. Drawing fruit from some of the Barossa’s most renowned Cabernet vineyards, including low-yielding vines over 40 years of age, the wine delivers exceptional varietal definition, concentration and complexity.
Deep crimson with red-purple edges, the wine opens with lifted aromas of ripe blackberry and dark chocolate, layered with vanilla, cigar box and perfumed toasty oak. The palate is dense and concentrated, with juicy blackberry and olive tapenade complemented by savoury spice, cinnamon oak and hints of tobacco leaf and anise. Mature tannins provide structure and finesse, while a persistent fruit-sweet length carries the wine to a long, savoury finish.
A classic expression of the traditional Peter Lehmann style, powerful and structural, yet elegant and refined. Enjoy now or cellar for the next 10-25 years as the wine develops further complexity and finesse.
Ideal with rich dishes and game meats such as duck or venison. Try with Peking duck pancakes, grilled spicy Italian sausages, venison pie or mushroom-based dishes.
