2021 The Queen Sparkling Shiraz

Sparkling Shiraz is a unique Australian wine style, and former Chief Winemaker Andrew Wigan was inspired to make a great sparkling wine from Barossa Shiraz in the 1980s. Often referred to as the ‘Jewel in our Crown’, The Queen Sparkling Shiraz is a unique and indulgent wine crafted from premium vineyards in South Australia's Barossa region. 

WINEMAKERS NOTES

Deep crimson in colour with red and purple hues, this wine opens with lifted aromas of chocolate, vanilla, dark fruits and a hint of Christmas cake. The palate is soft and supple, with silky tannins and an abundance of rich, dark blue fruit delivering a generous, mouth-filling texture. Subtle beading and delicate mousse enhance its luscious, seductive character, while a savoury dark chocolate backbone is balanced by sweet, perfumed oak. Layers of blackberry jam and satsuma plum carry through to a long, complex finish, where fruit sweetness is beautifully offset by depth, structure and time spent on tirage prior to disgorgement.

Best enjoyed now, however will comfortably develop further in the cellar for another 10-12 years under correct conditions.
