The Masters wines are the top tier of Peter Lehmann’s original classic Barossa varietals, made for the long haul and released with bottle age to capture their full potential. These wines are named after a person or event that has played an intrinsic role in the Peter Lehmann story.Â
‘Eight Songs for A Mad King’ is one of Peter Lehmann’s favourite vocal ensemble musical works, loved for its soft harmonies, inspiring Peter Lehmann to emulate their art in a wine unlike anything else he had made before. 8 Songs Shiraz was first made in 1996 with the aim of producing a  decisively soft and stylish style of Barossa wine.
WINE MAKERS NOTES
This Shiraz is deep in colour with a bright red hue, opening with generous aromas of dark chocolate and charry oak layered with lifted red cherry and plum. The palate is rich and expressive, shaped by a warm, low-yielding vintage that has produced intensely coloured, well-structured fruit with excellent cellaring potential. Sourced from select vineyards across Light Pass, Nuriootpa and Bethany, the wine was fermented on skins for up to two weeks before maturing in French oak hogsheads for approximately 15 months. The result is a beautifully balanced Shiraz, finishing with soft, velvety tannins and supple red fruit, making it an ideal match for roast beef, hearty casseroles or game pies.
