TROPHY WINNER - BEST 2023 SHIRAZ IN SHOW AT THE 2024 BAROSSA WINE SHOW
The inaugural release of the 'Eternal Optimist' displays the true spirit of Peter Lehmann, with a bright and vibrant balanced wine demonstrating everything Barossa Shiraz has become famous for. Peter Lehmann helped provide eternal optimism to the local grower families in the Barossa, ensuring community was at the very heart of his work.
WINE MAKERS NOTES
Deep and bright with a youthful purple hue. The nose shows lifted raspberry, violet flower, blueberry, dark chocolate and a hint of cherry oak. The palate is abundant with pretty, bright and fresh blue fruits, a rich middle palate with ripe plum and dark cherries. A supple tannin structure throughout gives an excellent backbone to this food friendly style of Barossa Shiraz, rounded out with a long juicy finish, beckoning for another glass!
2022 The Barossan Grenache
TROPHY WINNER - BEST GRENACHE IN SHOW AT THE 2024 BAROSSA WINE SHOW
Crafted by the next generation of Peter Lehmann winemakers, THE Barossan showcases the superb grapes sourced from the many fabled sub-regions across the Barossa Valley. A selection of the Barossa’s key growers, renowned for their quality and skill, have shared their passion and pristine fruit to create the ultimate expression of a great Barossa Grenache. Each parcel of grapes speaks to its vineyard origins, sharing a special and unique aspect of the sub-region.
WINE MAKERS NOTES
The wine displays bright purple hues with a core of garnet red. The lifted palate is smooth and silky with raspberry, violet flower and a hint of dried sage. This juicy red wine is perfect to accompany antipasto dishes, smoked meats and many Asian-inspired dishes with a bit of spice. Tannins are restrained, so this is also a lovely wine to enjoy as a pre-dinner option on its own and delicious when served slightly chilled.
2017 Masters Wigan Riesling
WINNER - WHITE WINE OF PROVENANCE AT THE 2024 BAROSSA WINE SHOW
The Masters wines are named after a person whom, or event that, has played an intrinsic role in the Peter Lehmann story. Crafted from the classic Barossa varietals, the wines are released with 5 years of bottle age and will continue to age gracefully for many years. Andrew Wigan was mentored by Peter Lehmann and was at his side when the winery was founded in 1979. He was Chief Winemaker from 1980 - 2014. Peter Lehmann’s reputation for Barossa Shiraz was soon complemented by Andrew’s passion for white wines. His refinement of the whites was revolutionary and his contribution to the Peter Lehmann story was recognised in 2003 with the re-naming of the revered ‘Reserve’ Riesling as ‘Wigan’ Riesling.
