The Age Epicure - Wine Of The Week
03 May 2011
"Good Barossa Semillon has been around for a very long time but it has only been emerging as a classic Australian wine type in recent years. Its evolution has echoed the move away from oak maturation by most makers, allowing the pristine fruit to speak for itself. This extraordinary bargain from Peter Lehmann is a worthy flag-bearer for the new direction.
Enticing aromas of lemon sherbet, peaches, grass cuttings and herbs have a savoury, waxy edge. It tastes intense, with a light but sustained flavour, finishing long and zippy. Worth buying by the dozen and putting a few bottles away - older examples are delicious."
