This year Sommeliers Australia is hosting its inaugural Best Sommelier of Australia Competition. We are proud to announce Peter Lehmann Wines as GOLD partners of the intiative.
Professional Sommeliers are invited to enter the competition and demonstrate their exceptional service knowledge and skills, with the winning competitor taking the title as Australia’s Best Sommelier 2011. Not only this, but the lucky winning candidate will go on to represent Australia in the 2012 ASI Asia Oceanic Competition, and, should they be successful there, the 2012 ASI Sommelier Du Monde competition.
Peter Lehmann Wines has long since been an active supporter of Sommeliers across the globe. Our Peter Lehmann Shiraz Sommelier Award has become synonymous with Sommeliers across Asia, North America and Europe. Now, we're extending this prestigious award to this years entrants of the Sommeliers Australia Best Sommelier of Australia Competition.
By winning this award, you could be part of the elite group of people who have previously won as part of the Association de la Sommellerie (ASI). Most recently, David Biraud was awarded the Peter Lehmann Wines Shiraz Sommelier Award at the ASI Contest for the Best Sommelier of Europe in Strasbourg, France. In addition, the 2007 ASI Best Sommelier of the World and the Le Meilleur Sommelier du Monde winner, Andreas Larsson, is a devout admirer of Peter Lehmann Wines with a top quality collection in his personal cellar.
Previous Peter Lehmann Shiraz Sommelier Award winners across Asia, North America and Europe include:
- Mr. Satoru Mori, Sommelier at Tour d’ Argent, who was named the ‘Best Sommelier of Japan 2008’ working in Tokyo (2008)
- Mr. Ian Lim, Resident Chief Sommelier with the Singapore Straits Wine Company in Singapore, received this award at the ASI Asia-Oceania Best Sommelier Competition in Osaka, Japan (2009)
- Mrs Véronique Rivest from restaurant Chelsea in the province of Quebec in Canada received this award at the ASI Contest for the Best Sommelier of the World in Santiago, Chile (2010)
- Isa Bal, Head Sommelier at Fat Duck Restaurant in the UK, who received the ‘Best Sommelier of Europe’ in the biennial Europe-wide competition in Sofia, Bulgaria (2010)
