Darren Schutz
Laboratory Manager
Darren Schutz has always been enthralled with chemistry, science and magic. These days he combines these passions through his day job as Laboratory Manager at Peter Lehmann Wines, and as a magician in his own show 'The Magic of Darren Schutz' on weekends.
Darren joined the Peter Lehmann Wines team in 1989 and for many years has been in charge of the laboratory and the anyalsis of wines made by the Peter Lehmann winemaking team, as well as for various other Barossa wineries.
His lab team includes Jenny and Ashy, and together they do a fabulous job maintaining the quality control aspects of the bulk and bottled wine inventory at Peter Lehmann Wines.
With 21 vintages behind him, Darren is an important member of the PLW winemaking team, and also a great entertainer. He is consistently looking at ways to improve laboratory processes through green initiatives.
He certainly makes life interesting at Peter Lehmann Wines, and we like to think he brings a little bit of magic to each and every wine we make.
